New RIDBA chairman appointed
Stephen Jaques, managing director of Jaques, has been appointed as the new chairman of RIDBA, succeeding Simon Pelly, of S&A Fabrications, following the completion of his two-year tenure.
Stephen formally took over the role at RIDBA’s AGM, held as part of the association’s Industry Day on September 10. As part of the handover, Stephen (pic, left) presented Simon (right) with a painting as a gift from the association.
Managing director of family-run Herefordshire business Jaques, he brings 27 years of experience to the position having designed and constructed poultry, agricultural and industrial buildings across the UK.
Stephen joined the RIDBA board in 2023 and went on to serve as vice chairman. Taking on the role of chairman, he says one of his key priorities will be strengthening engagement across the association, particularly among frame manufacturer members.
Stephen said: “It’s a real privilege to become chairman of RIDBA. My priority will be improving member engagement and making sure we deliver value for members.
“RIDBA has a proud history and remains extremely important to our industry. I look forward to working with our members to build on Simon’s work and ensure the association continues to deliver real value.”
Handing over the chairmanship, Simon said: “It has been an absolute privilege to serve as chairman of RIDBA over the past two years. For me, one of the greatest benefits of the association is the opportunity it gives members to share challenges and opportunities and make connections with others across the industry.
“I’m confident RIDBA is in very safe hands. Stephen knows the industry extremely well and is committed to building on what we’ve achieved while bringing his own ideas and priorities to the role. I wish him every success and he will have my undivided support.”
Other changes see Matthew Hastwell, of Wareing Buildings, becomes vice chairman and Simon become immediate past chairman. Phil Cleaver of AJN Steelstock continues as treasurer.
